LUKAS was bred by Kimberle
Schiff of
Oakwood Kennels and co-bred by
Michele Beyer-Manton of
Kaitler Kennels and was born in New York State at Oakwood
Kennels.
He arrived in Washington in June,
2007, as a long-legged, bundle of
energy.
None the less for
wear after his long flight to his
new home, Lukas confidently left
his travel crate behind to explore
his new and exciting
surroundings. He sat on my lap
watching the scenery pass by on
our way home from the airport.
The instant bonding was mutual as
we began our amazing life
together.
LUKAS began his
show career at just 6 months of
age, winning the Breed over the
Special on his first weekend out.
From there he went on to compete
at the German Pinscher Nationals
in 2007, just shy of 7 months,
earning two majors: Best of
Winners at a companion show and
Winners Dog at the National.
LUKAS finished his AKC Championship in Portland,
Oregon at the Rose City Classic in
January 2008, at just 11 months of
age, and represented the German
Pinscher Breed for the first time
on television when the show was
aired in April, 2008. Although he
was just a youngster, he handled
the bright lights and large moving
cameras like a pro and strutted
his stuff on the down and back
like he had been there a million
times before.
Next, Lukas set his
sights on Canada and made his
debut in February 2008 at the
Renaissance Dog Association shows
in Chilliwack,
B.C. He won the Breed each day
over the Special that was showing
and went on to place in the Group
each day of the show, earning a
Group 2, and two Group 4
placements. Lukas left the 3-day
show just 1 point shy of
completing his Canadian
Championship.
LUKAS was busy
competing in the United States so
did not return to Canada until
that fall, when he competed at the
Lower Mainland Dog Fanciers show
in Abbotsford. This is one of the
largest, if not the largest, shows
in Canada each year and the only
one that is televised.
LUKAS finished his
Canadian Championship on the first
day of the shows winning the Breed
from the classes and went on to
win the Breed all 4 days,
including the Breed at the first
German Pinscher Club of Canada
Booster.
Additionally, Lukas
won a Group 3 at the Non-Sporting
Specialty on October 30th and a Group 3 at the Lower
Mainland Dog Fanciers show on
November 1st, so again
was honored with representing the
German Pinscher Breed for his
second time on national
television.
Although Lukas only
showed in Canada the two weekends,
he acquired enough points to earn
him the coveted #1 German Pinscher
Top Dog in Canada Award for 2008.
LUKAS' next big
adventure took him down to Long
Beach, California to compete in
the Eukanuba Classic where he
received an Award of Merit,
placing second to his littermate,
Parker, a lovely black and red
version of himself.
LUKAS' started 2009
off with a BANG at the Portland
Oregon Rose City Classic where he
won the Breed all 3 days and
finished the last day off with a
Group 4 placement. For the second
year in a row he represented the
German Pinscher on national
television when the show was aired
in April.
He has continued to
WOW the judges with his excellent
conformation, beautiful movement,
look at me attitude, and wonderful
personality.

LUKAS wins Best Of Opposite Sex
Feb 16th, 2010 ... LUKAS took Best of
Breed at the WESTMINSTER KENNEL CLUB Show!!!!!
LUKAS attended the IABCA show in Ridgefield,
Washington this past weekend, earning his INTERNATIONAL
TITLE with the top V-1 rating at each of the four
shows. Be sure to check out the
Judges' Reports by clicking on the previous link.
In addition, on Feb 28/10 he received a Group 2nd at
the IABCA 2010 Evergreen Winter Sieger show under judge Ms. Juliann Kowalsky.
Also in 2010 Lukas won BOS at the Eukanuba
Classic under Judge Jane Roppollo.
LUKAS is expertly handled by
Luke Baggenstos. They have been working together now for some time and have really become a 'dynamic duo'. Lukas loves being with Luke and truly enjoys showing under the gentle guidance Luke provides. Watch for them at the shows ... if you look closely you will likely even see Lukas smiling.
LUKAS is at the
shows most every weekend, but he
spends his weekdays just being a
"dog" watching over my small farm,
patrolling for rabbits, squirrels,
other rodent-like creatures, and
the occasional snake who dare to
infringe on his territory.
Herding the horses is also a
favorite pastime.
He spends his
nights sacked out on the leather
couch and teasing the four cats
that run the household (every once
in a while you catch him and
Magic, my big, black cat, snuggled
up close to one another) - they
don't want anyone to know that
they really do like each other!
LUKAS is a loyal, loving companion
and a real clown - he always makes
me smile, especially when he's
trying to get his own way.
Lukas is now officially retired from the
conformation ring and will be working towards his obedience and
agility titles. A huge thank you goes out to the judges, his fans,
and all the friends that we have met during his illustrious
career. |
